I personally like using small galvanized metal buckets because they don’t weigh much. (Each on weighs about 0.5 lbs). Plus, you can make them look rustic, industrial or even elegant due to their silver metallic color.
I line the buckets with plastic and add both peat moss and perlite to the soil. This makes the soil lighter as well as helps it retain moisture. My spider plants seem to love this mix, and the ones in low-light rooms only need water every couple of weeks.
Alternatively, you could opt for 3 small flower pots. This contemporary 3-piece set only weighs about 3 lbs total and includes drainage holes with saucers.
